The happy mask show

In 2021 Aimee Chan wrote a stage adaptation of Aimee’s book, The Happy Mask for primary aged school children. The show features original music created by Tim Hartwig, toured over two years and was performed to over 1000 kids in front of seven primary schools in regional New South Wales and Victoria. The show was supported by funding and in-kind support from HotHouse Theatre, Create NSW, The Hayes Theatre, Contemporary Asian Australian Performers, Monkey Baa, AlburyCity, Wodonga Council, Regional Arts NSW, Murray Arts, Charles Sturt University and Rachel McNamara. Student Voice for Recovery

In 2022 Aimee Chan was selected by Regional Arts Victoria to complete two terms of student-lead creative incursions at Bethanga Primary School. During this period Aimee was able to expose the children to various art forms including writing, illustration, podcasting, graphic design, live theatre, dance and videography. Several other artists were invited to be a part of this experience including Graeme Base, Maryam Master, Eliza Ault-Connell, Alison Percy and Peter Klein. Read more here.

our first responders

In response to the extreme bushfire season of 2019/2020, Aimee Chan curated a public art exhibition to pay tribute to the first responders who were fighting the fires in regional Australia. The project is a combination of photography, podcasts interviews and website and was created thanks to the generous donations of local creatives and media. The exhibition exists as ephemeral paste ups on public walls in High Street, Wodonga, Victoria and was funded entirely through donations from local small businesses and volunteerism.

BEYOND YOLO

In 2018 Aimee Chan developed and wrote the Beyond YOLO podcast series which comprised 4 episodes addressing the subject of young people and resilience in regional NSW and Victoria. The project was a collaboration between local writers and storytellers and was supported by Regional Arts Fund NSW and Victoria and Murray Arts.

MOTHER COUNTRY

In 2022 Aimee Chan created a four part podcast series called Mother Country for SBS. The show focused on the complexities of intercultural adoption and featured interviews with Australian families living all over the country.

WOMEN OF THE RIVER

As part of the inaugural Upstream arts and culture festival in 2020, Aimee Chan curated the Women of the River public art exhibition. The ephemeral images were pasted up on walls of public buildings around Albury and Wodonga and showcased the stories of local women in regional NSW and Victoria and their relationship to the Murray River. Women of the River was a collaboration with four local photographers and was completed with the support of Murray Arts, Wodonga Council and Regional Arts NSW.

In 2013 Aimee Chan created family travel website suitcases&strollers, an online magazine for families traveling with kids aged 12 and under. suitcases&strollers provided travel stories for many well recognised travel titles including Conde Nast Traveller, Travel + Leisure, Lonely Planet Kids, Thai Airways Magazine, Silk Air magazine, Mother & Baby and Today's Parents. Since establishing suitcases&strollers Aimee Chan has been named Food & Travel Finalist in the Kidspot Voices of 2015 Awards and Australia's Top 50 Influencer Awards by Trivago, Nova100 and mydeal.com.au in 2017.
